Video Grabber PCs - today's camera! |
Traditionally frame grabs of video camera and sensor video streams have been carried out with dedicated video printers. These grab a single frame and print the resulting picture onto 5" x 7" paper. This approach required dedicated machines and used expensive printing paper. Once grabbed these images were then "frozen" in this format, copying was difficult with reduced quality and incorporation into any form of report or presentation to end client literally required a "cut & paste" approach! |
With the development of high quality video capture cards, and the increase in processor power, computer based systems have now been developed to undertake this previously expensive and laborious task. |
Instantaneous sampling from real time, or replayed, video with single press of a button. |
Images are previewed on screen, print only those you require |
A large volume of images can be taken and stored on today's media products e.g. CD or DVD recording |
Images can be re-printed many times without any loss of resolution |
Images can be printed to the size that suits you, not restricted by the paper size! |
Printing can be done on commonly available inkjet or laser printers, no need for dedicated expensive machines |
Being PC based systems can incorporate a full range of image enhancing and manipulation products to improve the finished product prior to printing. |
Of course one considerable advantage of these systems is that not only can stills be gathered but complete video clips can be captured. This allows far greater creativity when it comes to recording data and presenting the finished products. Such facilities are ideal for use in preparing training information or capturing image sequences. |
Once all data has been gathered the final report can then be prepared, often on the same machine via a suitable word processing package. As well as video stills if being presented in electronic format these reports can incorporate a full range of interactive features such as video clips. Bear in mind often the end client only ever sees this report! The more impressive the presentation the better. |
To meet and develop this area Rent IT has designed dedicated PC systems aimed at undertaking this task. |
These systems incorporate high performance Videum 1000 cards allowing not only stills recording, single frame (2 field) images, but can capture of full rate, full resolution, video clips. These clips are then stored in MPEG2 format on the systems hard disc. |

With onboard CD/DVD writer export of finished stills or video clips is easily achieved. Image manipulation software allows images to be optimised before storage/presentation. An optional colour printer, inkjet or laser, can further add to the flexibility of the system. |
All this has been built into one of our compact flex micro systems. Only 18cm high these are powerful machines incorporating P4 3.2GHz processors. Yet offer a compact and convenient means of making this facility available in any office or workshop. |

Video input can come from a pre-recorded source such as a DVD or video tape or from a live source such as a camcorder, surveillance camera or from some of the specialist items such as underwater cameras or internal inspections camera systems (as available from our parent company Seatronics Ltd) |
If you are looking to record events or prepare a comprehensive printed or interactive manual, presentation etc then this system is the ideal solution. |
