Although Rent IT's core business is the rental of IT equipment, we have been supplying by sale, custom made rackmount PCs to our established clients, who's requirement did not appear to be covered by standard products from the major manufacturers.
Our product range includes 2u, 3u and 4u rackmount PCs in short depth cases, providing an ideal platform for data acquisition and control systems that require further PCI / PCIe expansion than provided by "Server" rackmounts available. The product range is easily customised, so if your requirement is not covered by our options offered please contact us for a solution.
Reliabilty is main concern with our custom rackmount PCs. For the past few years we have been installing Solid State Disks (SSDs) into our rackmount builds for the operating system to be installed on for increased reliability and reduced heat. As the SSD products have matured, read and write speeds have reached a point similar or exceeding normal platter based hard drives, and sizes range from 30GB to 160GB. To date (11/2009) we have not experienced a Solid State drive failure.
All completed rackmount PCs undergo a 16 hour minimum burn in period prior to shipping running CPU and memory at 100% and exercising the Video card and storage. A new design requires a full 24 hours thermal soak test in our hot room to ensure adequate system cooling.
