A Series Format
The A series of paper sizes is based on a constant width to length ratio of 1: square root of 2 (1.4142) with A0 being defined as having an area of 1 square meter. Each smaller paper size is half the size of the larger A series, ie the format A1 is A0 cut in half on the A0 height.
B Series Format
The B series of paper sizes are the geometrical means between the A series of sizes. ie B3 is the geometrical mean between A3 and A2
C Series Format
The C series format of paper sizes are the geometrical means between the B series and the A series sizes, usually used for envelope formats. ie C4 is the geometrical mean between A4 and B4
